As a member of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee since 2007, Jon has been a leading voice for Indian Country in Congress. He has relentlessly held the federal government accountable to its trust and treaty responsibilities to Tribes, honored the nation-to-nation relationship that exists between them, and partnered with Tribes across all areas of policy and government. Jon fights every day to improve public safety, combat addiction and drug trafficking, bolster health care, and invest in education and infrastructure in Indian Country.
As Chairman of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Jon relentlessly fights for Montana’s nearly 100,000 veterans every day. Jon talks directly to Montana’s heroes, and takes their ideas and concerns with him to the Senate – and gets them real results. From the PACT Act righting a generational wrong for more than one million veterans, to opening 12 new veterans clinics across Montana, Jon will always fight tooth and nail to hold the VA accountable and get our veterans the care and benefits they’ve earned.
From Bozeman to Broadus, Jon knows that skyrocketing housing costs are being driven up by rich out-of-staters who are pricing Montanans out of the communities they love.
