Montanans Rally for Reproductive Freedom with Sen. Jon Tester and Planned Parenthood Action Fund President & CEO Alexis McGill Johnson
Montanans gather in support of Jon after Tim Sheehy’s extreme abortion comments
BOZEMAN – Yesterday, third-generation dirt farmer and U.S. Senator Jon Tester rallied Montanans in Bozeman alongside Planned Parenthood Action Fund President and CEO Alexis McGill Johnson. Jon and Alexis spoke to the packed room about how reproductive freedom is at stake in this election, and how Jon will always stand up for a woman’s right to make decisions about her own body and health care.
“We cannot call ourselves a free nation when women are not free,” said Alexis McGill Johnson, Planned Parenthood Action Fund President & CEO. “There is a clear choice here. The most important thing for us right now is to ensure that come November, not only will Montana have protected their freedoms in their state constitution, you will have sent Jon Tester back to the Senate so that he can do that nationally for all of us. We’re going to work like hell to do that.”
“We’re all here tonight because of freedom. That’s what’s on the ballot,” said Senator Jon Tester. “If there’s one thing that makes you a Montanan, it’s your love of freedom. You don’t want a politician, or a bureaucrat, or a judge, telling you – especially if you’re a woman – what health care decisions you’re gonna make. Roe v. Wade being overturned was the biggest reduction of freedom in my lifetime, and yours too. But we’ve got some things we can do about it: We’ve gotta go to the polls this November and vote. Elections matter.”
This campaign swing comes after new audio revealed Tim Sheehy said he wants abortion “all to end tomorrow.” Sheehy’s rhetoric reflects his extreme positions on reproductive rights. Sheehy opposes CI-128, the ballot measure to protect Montanans’ reproductive freedoms, he supports a national abortion ban, and he refuses to support federal protections for IVF treatment and birth control.
