Tim Sheehy Pressed by Fox News Radio for Lying About Bipartisan Border Bill
Jon Tester was an outspoken advocate for the border patrol-backed, bipartisan border security bill
BILLINGS – In a recent interview with Fox News Radio, Tim Sheehy was pressed for lying about the bipartisan border bill.
The host asked Sheehy if he supported the bipartisan border bill which would have “added money for resources on the border, rewrote asylum-type laws, really restricted asylum.”
Sheehy said he wouldn’t support the bill because “it was basically going to legalize mass migration across our border.” Sheehy’s claims were then fact-checked live, with the host responding: “I mean, obviously the Republican senator who helped broker that, Senator Lankford, said that that’s not exactly true.”
LISTEN: Sheehy’s Border Claims Fact-Checked by Fox News Radio
- HOST: There was a bipartisan, at least in the Senate, border bill that had come together that added money for resources on the border, rewrote asylum-type laws, really restricted asylum in some cases. Is that something you’d be interested in working on? Is that a proposal you would have bought into?
- SHEEHY: […] Let’s be very honest. I mean, it was essentially going to codify the existing border disaster as is and allow it to continue. I mean, it was still going to allow potentially millions of illegal immigrants a year coming into this country, which is just unacceptable […]
- HOST: Okay, I mean, I asked– I mean, obviously the Republican senator who helped broker that, Senator Lankford, said that that’s not exactly true, that 5000 number was kind of a number that– you know, screened by immigration.
Montanans won’t forget that in a moment when Sheehy could have supported a bipartisan solution to crack down on fentanyl and secure the border, he chose political games instead.
Meanwhile, Jon Tester has been steadfast in his support for securing the border. Jon voted for the border patrol agent-backed, bipartisan border security deal to close the border and keep our country safe. The bill would have provided much needed resources to our border patrol to reduce border crossings and crack down on illegal immigration. Jon, and Montanans, will not stand for political games when our national security is at risk.
