Tester Receives Lifetime Achievement Award from Firefighters Unions for Tireless Work to Strengthen Montana Firefighting

Campaign News May 29, 2024

Jon Tester: “I’ll never stop fighting to ensure Montana’s firefighters have what they need.”

MISSOULA – Following years of tireless work on behalf of Montana’s firefighters, third-generation dirt farmer and U.S. Senator Jon Tester today received a specially-made pulaski as a Lifetime Achievement Award from NFFE (National Federation of Federal Employees) and the IAFF (International Association of Firefighters) – America’s two leading firefighters unions.

NFFE is the union that represents federal wildland firefighters and IAFF represents municipal firefighters in Montana.

“Montana’s firefighters are on the frontline of keeping our state safe from disaster, and I’ll always go to bat for them in Washington,” said Tester. “These brave men and women never shy away from dangerous situations, and I’ll never stop fighting to ensure they have what they need to perform their jobs safely. I’m honored to receive this award and together we’ll work hard to keep the Treasure State strong. ”

Tester has been a lifelong champion of wildland firefighters, passing the First Responders Fair RETIRE ACT and successfully working to raise pay for wildland firefighters. Additionally he has been a champion for presumptive illness coverage, and has secured hundreds of millions to provide benefits and salaries for municipal firefighters.
