WHAT MONTANANS ARE SAYING: “Jon Tester Has Been a Remarkable Public Servant for Montana”

Campaign News August 14, 2024

BILLINGS – Third-generation Montana dirt farmer Jon Tester is relentlessly defending Montana’s way of life – making it no wonder Montanans of all political stripes and across the state are speaking up to show their support for him in this election.

Check out what Montanans have been saying about Jon:

Bozeman Daily Chronicle: Letter to the editor: Tester has been a great public servant

By Bill Youngwirth

  • Jon Tester has been a remarkable public servant for Montana. He’s fought hard, reached across the aisle, and gotten game-changing legislation passed under both Trump and Biden. I’m proud to be voting for him this November – and I’m a Republican.
  • Jon’s PACT Act is one of the most significant accomplishments out of Congress in the past decade. It substantially expanded veterans’ treatment options, cutting red tape that burdened veterans seeking care.
  • He got over 20 different bills signed into law under the Trump administration, and has a well-earned reputation for being accessible and helpful to constituents.
  • If anyone knows how to conserve Montana values, it’s the third-generation dirt farmer, and he has my vote this November.

Missoulian: Letter to the editor: Sen. Tester knows Montanans’ challenges

By Dean Johnson

August 13, 2024

  • I want someone representing Montana who understands the pressures we feel. As a third-generation Montana farmer, Jon Tester knows the challenges that hard-working Montanans are facing, and he’s been fighting for solutions back in the Senate.
  • Jon knows that our seniors on fixed incomes have been hit hard, so he fought to cap the cost of prescription drugs for seniors on Medicare. He passed a bill to invest in computer chip manufacturing in the US, which will create tens of thousands of jobs and drive down the cost of electronics. And he knows rising costs are hitting our veterans especially hard, so he secured a cost-of-living increase to make sure Montana’s veterans are getting the benefits they have earned.
  • Only one man in this race knows the challenges facing real Montanans, so this November, make sure to vote for Jon so he can keep fighting to drive down costs for Montanans.

Billings Gazette: Letter to the editor: Tester’s bills show support for Montanans

By Hillery Daily

August 11, 2024

  • In fact, here are a few ways that Tester is standing up for Montana:
  • Sponsored into law over three dozen bills supporting veterans
  • PACT Act with more than 35,000 Montana veterans screened for toxic exposure
  • 12 new VA facilities opening or in planning and construction in Montana
  • Defeated a Biden proposal that would have negatively impacted family farms, ranches, and small businesses

Dillon Tribune: Supports Tester

By Debbie Huber

July 30, 2024

  • I’m writing to share my strong support for Sen. Jon Tester as he runs for re-election. With 16 years of dedicated service in the U.S. Senate and eight years in our state legislature — including a key leadership role — Sen. Tester has been a steadfast advocate for Montanans like us.
  • What I admire most about Tester is his commitment to doing what’s right, even when it means going against his own party. Recently, he took a brave stand by asking President Joe Biden to reconsider his re-election bid. This was a tough call, but it showed his dedication to putting our country and state’s best interests first.
  • Leadership often involves making hard decisions — whether it’s standing against your own party, or calling on the President to step aside — and Tester has shown he’s willing to do just that for the benefit of our state.

Bozeman Daily Chronicle: Letter to the editor: Why I, as a veteran, support Tester

By Orville Bach

July 26, 2024

  • As a senior, Independent and veteran I have been asked why I support Jon Tester for reelection to the U.S. Senate. While I believe that Jon has served veterans and Montanans well, my primary motivation has to do with the oath of office that I took when I was commissioned as a young Officer in the United States Air Force, where I went on to serve in the Strategic Air Command at Malmstrom.

Missoulian: Letter to the editor: Tester supports health care access

By Laurie Kurth

July 23, 2024

  • I would like to thank Sen. Jon Tester for protecting access to birth control, and all reproductive health care. It’s absurd that I should have to, but in today’s hyper-partisan environment, his common-sense approach on this issue is refreshing.
  • At a recent Senate vote affirming the right to birth control, a good number of senators couldn’t even be bothered to show up, and many of them voted against the bipartisan measure; enough to block it in fact.
  • Tester, however, actually bothered to show up and vote for it. Montana is a state founded on freedom and getting the government off our back, yet he was the only member of our delegation to vote for women’s freedom to make healthcare decisions.
  • Birth control is under threat in a way it hasn’t been in decades, and to see most senators react with apathy if not outright hostility is absurd. Meanwhile, Jon Tester has been an advocate for contraceptives, IVF treatment, and rural access to reproductive health care. I’d like to call on everyone who supports health care access to support him.
