Big Sky 55+ Endorses Jon Tester for U.S. Senate as Champion for Social Security and Medicare

Campaign News September 18, 2024

BILLINGS – Today, Big Sky 55+ endorsed third-generation dirt farmer Jon Tester in his reelection campaign for U.S. Senate because of his lifetime record of being a champion for Montana seniors, and always defending Social Security and Medicare.

“Big Sky 55+ was formed to make sure that elected officials are held accountable on senior issues,” said Big Sky 55+ Chairwoman Terry Minow. “Jon Tester has always answered the call. When we have a U.S. senator like Jon Tester who is the champion for older Montanans, who has our backs on Social Security, Medicare and prescription drug costs, we must do what we can to keep him in the Senate to fight for us. We’re proud to endorse Jon Tester.”

“It’s an honor to have Big Sky 55+’s endorsement when there’s so much on the line for Big Sky seniors,” said Senator Jon Tester. “Whether it’s relentlessly defending Social Security and Medicare or capping the costs of lifesaving prescription drugs, I will always go to bat for Montanans. I am going to continue to fight like hell against any attempt to cut, privatize, or reduce those benefits not just for our seniors today, but to make sure our kids and grandkids have access to them too.”

Jon Tester has a strong record of fighting for our seniors and defending Social Security and Medicare. Jon strongly opposes any plan to sunset Social Security, gut funding for Medicare, or fully privatize the health care system. Jon is willing to work with anyone in Congress, Democrats, Republicans, or Independents to make sure Montana’s seniors receive the benefits and health care they earned so they can enjoy their retirement years.

Jon Tester has been proud to receive endorsements from groups and Montanans across the state, including Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Montana AFL-CIO, Montana Conservation Voters, Social Security Works, Montana Rural Voters, Montana Sportsmen Alliance, the Veterans Coalition of Northwest Montana, the Montana Alliance for Retired Americans, the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, Montana’s Credit Unions, more than 100 Montana Republicans including former Governor Marc Racicot and current elected officials, and more.
